Search Engine Optimization (Bristol SEO) are methods that aid in the improvement of a website’s ranking in the listings of search engines. There are different kinds of listings that are displayed in the results pages of search engines, such as paid inclusion, pay-per-click advertisements, and organic search results. Utilizing Bristol SEO can increase the quantity of site visitors that acts on the activity that the site intends.

Sites have different goals for search optimization. Some sites search for all kinds of traffic. A Bristol SEO strategy that is broad in scope can be advantageous for sites that cover broad interest, such as directories and periodicals. On the other hand, majority of the sites attempt to maximize their pages for a high quantity of very specific keywords that radiate the possibility of a sale. Usually, focusing on well-chosen traffic produces sales leads of desirable quality, and allows advertisers to pull in more business.

The importance of having a high rank for an advertiser’s site cannot be emphasized enough. Unfortunately, many site owners believe that their site has a high-ranking, when the truth is exactly the opposite. Others who are aware that they do not possess enough presence in search engines do not know that it is possible to achieve the ranking they want, and that they can get it through means that are a lot easier and more efficient.

So what are the techniques that advertisers must employ to maximize their optimization and garner the site activity and profits that they seek? Here are some of the most useful ones.

1. Title tags should be written in a creative way. It should be created with the strongest keyword targets as the basis. It is the most important tag of a web site when it comes to optimization. The specific keyword of the web site that is being optimized should be the one that is placed in the title tag. It goes without saying that every site should have its own title tag.

2. Carefully select the words and phrases to be assigned to Alt tags. Alt tags are not really mandatory, but they are provided for text browsers because images do not get displayed in web browsers, and it is the Alt tags that give information to the users about its significance. The rule in Alt tags is fairly simple: only key phrases or key words should be put in Alt tags, overdoing may cause a site to disappear in search results or get banned from it indefinitely.

3. Manage keyword density. Keyword density is the percentage occupied by keywords or keyword phrases in a web page. Ideally, keywords are used once in the title tag, the heading tag, and in bold text. Keywords should be placed at the top of the page, and phrases can be inserted in every paragraph, depending on how long the paragraph is.

4. Determine the appropriate page size for the site. Speed is a vital element to the success of a site, and it important to both online visitors and the search engines. It is recommended to limit web pages under 15K.

5. Create rich themes for the pages. Search engines are increasingly getting particular about themes. Content should be created as often as possible, and the pages should be maintained to 200 to 500 words. The content should be created in relation to the market, and should be linked to the other related content present on the site.

6. Make the site’s design attractive to the viewer. All efforts in optimization will be in vain if the site is poorly designed and if its contents are hard for viewers to read. There should be more text content than HTML content in the web site. Viewers should be able to use the pages in all major browsers. It should be noted that most search engines veer away from JavaScript and Flash.

7. Stay away from the bad techniques. Utilizing them could get a site blacklisted from the search engines. Spamming is a no-no, and the following techniques are considered spamming: doorway and identical pages, tiny or invisible text, cloaking, usage of keyword phrases in author tags etc.

Advertisers should keep in mind that simplicity is the basis of a successful Bristol SEO campaign. Sites should be easy for viewers to locate, follow, and read, and should contain relevant content. Following the techniques above will prove worthwhile for site owners in the future.

What Newbies Need To Know About Using Pay Per Click Ads To Generate Traffic

You can have the best looking web site in the world promoting a fantastic product, but if your potential customers don’t know about it, you won’t get any traffic or sales. This is the single biggest problem facing all internet marketers. This is especially so for newbies who frequently get discouraged and give up their attempts to make money online.

What Is Pay per Click

This is one of the more expensive methods of generating traffic, but provides an instant stream of visitors to your site. There are a number of companies offering pay per click advertising, such as Google, Yahoo and Overture, to name but a few. The most well known is the Google Adwords program, which I will use to illustrate the principles of pay per click.

You may have noticed the ads displayed on the right hand side of Google’s search page results. Each ad is associated with a keyword phrase (e.g ladies golf clubs) and is displayed next to the search results when someone searches for those keywords.

These ads are known as contextual ads because they are displayed on pages where the content is closely related to the keywords associated with the ad.

You will also come across these ads when you visit certain websites. The same principle applies and the theme / topic of the page matches the keywords associated with the ad. In this instance, the webmaster will receive a payment from Google for displaying their ads. This program is known as Adsense.

How Does Pay Per Click work

Place your ads with Google Adwords and pay for every click that takes a visitor to your site.
The price per click is determined by the popularity of the keyword and its position in the list. Prices generally vary between a few cents and $5 but can be very much more for some keywords.

There is no fixed price for a specific keyword or the position where it’s displayed on the page. The advertiser specifies the maximum amount they are prepared to pay and then Google uses this and other information from all the other advertisers to work out the position of each ad. Exactly how this is done is outside the scope of this article and many books have been written on the subject.

You can open a free Adwords account with Google Adwords. They have very good online help screens and examples to help you set up your campaigns.

If this method appeals to you, you can at a later stage spend a lot more time specializing in the numerous strategies that have been devised to make this technique successful. In common with all advertising, the secret is to continually test and improve on the performance of your ads. The bottom line is quite simply, if you make more profit than the cost of your ads, you are on a winner. If not, stop immediately and try something else!

A good idea is to get some help in the form of step by step instructions and coaching videos designed specifically for newbies.

Birmingham PPC info can be found throughout the web. If you plan to begin a pay per click advertisement campaign, you need information. Where to advertise and how much to advertise is necessary information. You can find the Birmingham PPC info you need throughout the web with ease. Lets understand what Birmingham PPC is first.

Birmingham PPC or pay per click advertising is an effective way to advertise a website, a service or a product. By placing ads on search pages, you are encouraging visitors to get the information or the product they are looking for from a specific source. Like any other advertising, it only works if it is directed at the right audience, at the right time and in the right way. But, because individuals are heading to those search engines to locate specific items, you can count on hitting the right audience.

For example, if you need to search for a home based business idea, then you would head to your favorite search engine and input this. But, when you do this, the search results will come back with Birmingham PPC advertisements. You can choose to find the item you need through these ads or through the websites generated by the search. In any case, being the advertiser is effective in that you will bring in considerable amounts of visitors quickly.

To find Birmingham PPC info, look to the webs search engines. The larger the engine is, the more costly it is to use this method of advertising. Also, the keywords used also determine the cost as well. Nevertheless, it can be an excellent way to generate clicks to a website. Look to the search engine for the Birmingham PPC info you need to get started.

There are also many information portals now devoted to the subject and we recommend reading about it at one of these. Try googling for Birmingham PPC and you will be surprised by the abundance of information on the subject. Alternatively you may try looking on Yahoo, MSN or even a decent directory site, all are good sources of this information.

The Pros And Cons Of Using Google Adsense For Extra Income!

I have been using the Google Adsense Program to generate extra income online for some time now. I have gained a lot of experience from using the program. I feel its become necessary to share the pros and cons of the program with those that may be considering using it in this article. But first, I need to explain a bit what the program is.

What is Google Adsense?

Google Adsense is an affiliate marketing program. In Google Adsense, Google act as the intermediary between the affiliates and the merchants. The merchant, or the advertiser, would simply sign up with Google and provide the latter with text ads pertaining to their products. These ads, which is actually a link to the advertisers website, would then appear on Google searches as well as on the websites owned by the affiliates, or by those webmasters who have signed up with the Google Adsense program.

In Google Adsense, all the webmaster has to do is place a code on his website and Google takes care of the rest. The ads that Google would place on your site would generally be relevant to the content of your site. This would be advantageous both for you and for the advertiser, as the visitors of your site would more or less be actually interested with the products being advertised.

The Google Adsense program compensates the affiliate in a pay-per-click basis. The advertisers would pay Google a certain amount each time their ad on your site is clicked and Google would then forward this amount to you through checks, although only after Google have deducted their share of the amount. Google Adsense checks are usually delivered monthly if you earning reaches $100.00. Also, the Google Adsense program provides webmasters with a tracking tool that allows them to monitor the earnings they actually get from a certain ad.

Now that you understand what Google Adsense is, here are the pros:

1. They are great for webmasters creating content websites. It used to be these webmasters worried about how to cover the expenses of running their websites. With Google Adsense, these worries became a thing of the past. All they have to do now is write their content and add adsense to it and make money.

2. Google Adsense makes the internet better for the users. Webmasters can now concentrate on publishing quality content. Quality content makes the internet better for the users.

3. Once a webmaster creates quality content, it can generate income for years to come. All the webmaster has to do is update the content from time to time and the income will keep coming in.

4. If a webmaster has the time, the webmaster can publish multiple websites. You can use one Google Adsense account on multiple websites. You dont have to go through the hassle of applying for another account with Google.

Below are the cons of the Google Adsense program:

1. The Adsense account can be closed by Google at any time. There are horror stories of webmasters waking up and seeing their account closed. They all of a sudden lose their source of income.

Usually, one of the reasons that makes Google close an account is click fraud. The problem is that the click fraud my not be committed by the webmaster.

2. The Google Adsense program does not provide residual income. So, you cant continue to reap the reward of your hard work over and over as you do with residual income programs.

3. Most content websites depend on search engines for traffic. When the search engines shuffle their ranking algorithms, the traffic may drop. This drop will result in less traffic and income.

4. Creating content can be hard work. Youll need to keep adding content to keep your website interesting. Without this, you visitors may dry up, which will decrease your income.

There you have it! You now know the pros and cons of the Google Adsense program. Its up to you to decide if you want to use it to earn extra income.

Pay Per Click in 2006 :: The Latest News and Tactics Discussed at SES New York

There is probably no one who doubts that London PPC is here for the long term. And while many dismissed London PPC in the early days, it is clear, based on earnings reported by the search engines, that London PPC is here to stay.

Therefore, online marketers need to understand what it is, how to use it and what your competitors are doing. It is also important to know what some of the most effective tactics are out there.

The first thing to know is that London PPC marketing is evolving just like organic placement. There are new players entering the market with unique ways to help you improve your London PPC results.

Take MSN, for example. Because of its huge user base it can offer demographic placement of ads. In other words, if you want your ad to appear only for Women in the 20-35 age group then MSN offers that ability.

Google and Yahoo! are also offering some form of demographic placement, but not to the extent of MSN. With these two you can also opt to place ads in geographic areas, for example, or limit your contextual advertising to appear only on selected sites if you chose to do contextual matching.

Further, as a London PPC advertiser you need to be aware of the types of ads and delivery platforms being developed right now.

For example, we already know that Google is moving into Click to Call ads. They are offering AdWords advertisers the ability to advertise in magazines, and likely theyll soon be able to advertise on the radio as well.

But, there are also other formats in the works such as rich media ads and video ads.

In reality, the paid advertising market on the Internet is still in its infancy. As the Internet becomes more ingrained into our lifestyles the advertising opportunities grow.

In the future well see more ads embedded into all our online content including videos we download or watch and even web media we receive via our portable devices.

There are some pitfalls to paid advertising, however. At a recent Search Engine Strategies session covered by SEO Roundtable, attendees learned just how competitive the paid landscape is.

They introduced a variety of bidding tactics which have been designed to help the bidder own the market space.

Through such things as bid shadowing and bid surfing one can effectively force a competitor out of the marketspace for chosen keywords.

Or, bidders can work co-operatively to lower the bid prices while still maintaining their presence online.

These are tactics which go beyond proper landing page creation, dayparting and other bid managmenet tactics. But, they do illustrate how competitive and advanced some firms have become.

Overall, I think the best bid strategy must start with an acknowledgment of your bottom line what can you afford to bid and still make money doing it? This is where some firms fail while the most successful go on to bigger and better things.

This ROI based bidding can help ensure that you dont break the bank while trying to maintain your competitiveness.

This type of bidding can also help you find those markets which are untapped by forcing you to constantly analyze and re-analyze the market looking for those opportunities.

Remember, an effective paid campaign is just like an effective organic campaign. You dont always have to be number one. In fact, in some cases a number 2 or 3 position can be much more effective at a much lower cost.

Algorithm. A set of rules that a search engine uses to rank the pages contained within its index in response to a particular query. No search engine reveals exactly how its algorithm works, to protect itself both from competitors and from those who wish to spam the search engine.

Back links. These are links to a website from external sources, including other web pages, directories, and advertising.

Banned. When pages are removed from a search engine’s index because the search engine has deemed them to be spamming, or violating one of the search engines other rules.

Click-through rate. How many people clicked on a link, as a percentage of the total number of people that saw the link.

Cloaking. The act of serving content to search engine spiders that is different to what normal visitors would see. Search engines will ban you if they find you doing this.

Contextual links. Contextual links are displayed on web pages when the content on the page indicates to an ad server that the page is a good match for specific keywords or phrases.

Conversion rate. The percentage of visitors to a website who buy something.

Cost per click (CPC). A system where an advertiser pays an agreed amount for each click someone makes on a link leading to their website.

De-listing. This is when pages are removed from a search engines index, usually because they havent been updated for a long time.

Directories. A type of search engine where listings are gathered by humans, rather than by automated web crawlers.

Doorway page. A web page created in the hope of improving another pages ranking in a search engines listings. Doorway pages dont give much information to the people viewing them.

Link popularity. A count of how popular a page is based on the number of other pages that link to it.

Link. A link is text that you can click on to go to another website, or another page on the same website.

Listings. The information that appears on a search engine’s results page in response to a search.

Meta-search engine. A search engine that returns listings from two or more other search engines, instead of using its own index.

Meta description tag. This meta tag allows pages to provide descriptions to search engines.

Meta keywords tag. Allows authors to add text to a page to help with the search engine ranking process.

Meta robots tag. Allows page authors to keep some web pages from being indexed by search engines. Similar to a robots.txt file.

Natural listings. The listings that search engines do not sell. Instead, sites appear solely because a search engine believes it is important for them to be included, regardless of payment. Note that paid inclusion listings are still treated as natural listings by many search engines.

Outbound links. Links on one website that lead to other websites.

Paid inclusion. An advertising program where pages are guaranteed to be spidered and included in a search engine’s index in exchange for payment.

PPC. Pay-per-click means the same as cost per click (CPC).

Paid listings. Listings that search engines sell to advertisers, usually through paid placement or paid inclusion programs.

Pay-for-performance. A term popularized by some search engines as a synonym for pay-per-click. It stresses to advertisers that they are only paying for ads that “perform” in terms of delivering traffic, as opposed to CPM-based ads, where ads cost money even if no-one clicks on them.

Paid placement. An advertising program where listings appear in response to particular search terms, with higher rankings typically obtained by paying more than other advertisers.

Rank. The order in which web pages are listed in search engine results.

Search engine. A service designed to allow users to search the web, or another database of information.

Search engine marketing (SEM). Marketing a website using search engines, whether youre improving your ranking in natural listings, purchasing paid listings or some combination of the two.

Search engine optimization (Birmingham SEO). Altering a website so that it ranks higher in the search engines.

Search terms. The words a searcher enters into a search engine’s search box.

Shopping search. Shopping search engines allow shoppers to search the web for products and their prices.

Spam. Any search engine marketing method that a search engine decides is detrimental to its efforts to deliver relevant search results.

Spider. See crawler.

Submission. The act of sending a URL to a search engine, for inclusion in its index.

XML feeds. A process in which information about a page is fed to the index without using a crawler, for example using RSS.

The best advice is to follow a good search engine promotion system. Keep track of when you submit your sites and how soon theyre indexed — checking once a week is sufficient.

Ranking systems can be confusing and there are often complex factors involved, but you do not need to be an expert in the field to achieve top results. Take a chance after all, you have nothing to lose.

Many thanks to Danny Sullivan, Kevin Lee, Ikonya Nginyo, and all the other volunteers who contributed.

Pay per click advertising is one of the fastest growing sources of online advertising on the Internet today. Pay per click advertising is very cost effective and the traffic you will receive is all targeted to you products or services using keyword search technology. There are many different pay per click advertising services to choose from search the net and find the right company for you. Ill show you what to look for in a pay per click search engine advertising company and how they work.

Why is pay per click advertising so popular? First of all it gives any small business a chance to compete with large corporations who control the major search engine results. Theres a lot less work involved all you have to do is set up an account with any company thats right for you, then create an ad with your selected related keywords and submit. Then sit back and watch our traffic stats go though the roof.
Pay per click advertising companies provide targeted traffic to your website, meaning everybody who comes to your website are looking for your products or services.
The price is right, one of the best qualities of pay per click advertising is that set your daily limit to what you want. Spend as little as $10 a day and receive 1000 unique visitors if your keyword bid is only $0.01 per click.

How dose pay per click advertising work? You as an advertiser bid on keywords related to your website on a pay per click bases to receive targeted traffic. Say if your website sells car Insurance you bid on Car Insurance, Car, Insurance and so on in till you find as many possible related phrases to your website as you can. Some keywords and phrases will be more expensive then others depending on your competitions bid on the same keyword or phrase. After you let your ad run for a couple days you start to see what keyword work the best to bring traffic to your website. NOTE: try to keep keywords related to your site that way people are actually looking to buy or find info on your products or services.

How to pick the right pay per click advertising company? Personally I look for a company that can provide me with low keyword bidding any where for $0.01 – $0.05 per click on keywords for a minimum bid. Even If the pay per click advertising company can only send you a hundred unique visitors a day it is way more cost effective in the long run compare to paying a dollar a click with a larger company to get the same amount of traffic for more money. Some pay per click advertising companies have affiliate programs allowing you to earn free traffic by placing a search bar on your website, you earn credits towards your pay per click account every time some one dose a search or clicks on a paying averter. Now this is a must it will say some where on the site usually when your sign up for your account that they are protected against click fraud, If not they can scam you money. A promotional deal is always nice, when I sign up with a company its good to get a deal so you can try their services with out pay a lot or some times nothing.

There are many different forms of advertising online and in my experience pay per click advertising has allowed me to keep up with my larger competitors with out breaking the bank or a sweat. Pay per click advertising combined with other free methods of advertising can bring thousands of visitor to your site a month with very little money invested. Pay per click advertising is perfetct for small businesses it helped me and it can easily help you.

Many web site owners are getting their Google Adsense account terminated. I read on the forums almost daily posts from people who are bemoaning the fact that Google has terminated their account when they feel they have done nothing wrong to deserve the punishment. In almost every case, click fraud is the reason for termination.

Click fraud is the act of clicking on ads for the purpose of costing the advertiser money. It is simply the same as paying out cash for false leads. Many website owners are aware of this fraud, and share the same sentiment that this is the one big problem that Adsense is facing.

How do you prevent yourself from being involved in this fraud?

The majority of web hosts offer access logs. If you are notified of click fraud and possible termination of your account by Google, it is necessary that you hand over these logs to them to clarify your situation. This allows them to look for any suspicious activity on your site. Problems like this are very serious and giving it to them is a show of good faith that you want to help Google in any way you can to attempt to solve the problem.

It can also help if you have a click monitoring software. There are many good programs available, but it is important that you get a program that has no limitations. there are free programs available, but I would suggest that you get a script from a certified expert in this field. I highly recommend using William Bontrager’s script, available at http://bontragercgi.com/programs/clickwatch. Mr Bontrager will install this script on one site for you after the purchase of the software, and will show you how to add the script to other sites. Free scripts are also available on the Internet if you are limited in funds. Remember, you get what you pay for. As usual, all the information you will receive from your tracking software should be turned over to Google. This is showing Google that you too are fighting against click frauds and is in no way a part of it.

Study your server logs and watch for any activity that seems suspicious. Report anything that you may find odd, may it big or small thing. Look for large spikes in traffic, and suspicious activity in files and folders where people would not normally have access to. Remember, that when working on your site, that you will access these files and folders. It is suggested you track these by noting the time of activity. A little work on your part will save you a lot of grief in the long run.

You may want to consider disabling ads for your own IP address and local geographic area. This will certainly prevent accidents and will not make Google mistake another user as you. You can do through the htaccess file on your web site. the process is too detailed to go into further here, but if you do a search on the engines to learn ways to access and disable portions of this log, a lot of information is readily available. By doing this, and showing Google that you have done so, you protect yourself against any possible threat from Google.

Keep your Adsense off on pop ups and pop unders. Your ads should not be displayed on content sites that promote illegal activity or tampering of the legal rights of other people or business. Included in this are the content that is considered adult or gambling in nature, or promote firearms, tobacco, or drugs of any kind. If you think that you may be breaking this rule, immediately remove your content or Adsense from the web page.

Be truthful and confess up to Google about times when you might have clicked on your own ads, whether accidentally or intentionally. Be honest about anything that you may have done that is wrong. Confessing is way better than Google learning about it eventually. It would mean eventual termination and no getting back what you have worked so hard for.

Do not tell your family or friends about Adsense on your website. Chances are they may start clicking on them to help you make money without you knowing it. They may be doing more harm to you than help by trying it in the first place.

Most pay per click networks have different measures in hand to protect website owners against click frauds. Other search engines can track more than 50 data points, IP address, browsers information, users session info and pattern recognition. They also have systems available that detects fraud, not to mention the specialized teams monitoring how things are going and helping advertisers stop click frauds. Google has some of the best brains in the business, and it does no one any good to try to “fool” them. In addition to the algorithms that Google has in place, they also employ regular people to surf the net to find illegal sites.

Google offers suggestion on how to avoid click fraud. Using negative keywords can be used to keep your Adsense showing on products and services that are in no way related to yours. Add tracking URLs to your links so you can track the traffic coming from Google.

Don’t be caught in the Google click fraud. The opportunity to make a very decent income is readily available if you use common sense, do not try to cheat Google, and follow their Terms of Service. If you do these things, maybe some day you too can be a member of the FedEx Club!

Google had established its supremacy amongst the ranks of search engines being the most preferred and most popular search engine on the web. I remember the instance when the son of a friend of mine refused to accept the information we gave him about Christmas, until he was convinced that the content had indeed been pulled off Google. In 2000, as Google won the race over the other search engine it was also involved in creating a program that would catapult its position as a viable advertising medium and generate more revenue. The initial advertising model that Google had developed was primarily for the use of big companies however, it later also developed the Google Adwords program which offers beneficial results to all companies, big and small.

Googles Adwords is a keyword targeted advertising program. The original Google Adwords program was discontinued because its basic idea was to pay per impression which did not guarantee traffic to the advertiser and was not so popular. With the overhauling that the Google Adwords received in 2002 changed all of that. Googles Adwords is advertising model that works on the principle of pay per click advertising. It is keyword targeted which means that when a user searches for certain keywords that are related or present on your site then Google Adwords automatically display your site along with the results of the search in a column right next to the search results.

With Google Adwords, you choose which keywords you choose to advertise and hence when your ad is displayed on the search page it will display what you feel is your most relevant content. This way you are guaranteed a click if your domain name or the content appears relevant to the user. It is Leeds PPC advertising which means that you only pay if the user clicks on your domain name and hence visits your site. Adwords also makes sure that your ad stays at its position on the search engine page because the program Discounter reduces the price you pay per click to one above your competitor which also means that you are not required to constantly check on the position of your advert, Google Adwords does that for you.

Another plus point for Google Adwords over others is that Google Adwords maintains the position of your ad through not only Pay Per Click but also Click Through Rate, this is essentially important because this way even the small fish have the chance to stay alive. The company with the bigger bank balance does not win hands down; each company must strive to stay at the top. If your content is good, and your CTR is good then you can keep your place on the search results page easily.
