Every few months Google updates the algorithm it uses to rank websites in its index. Some of these updates are more significant than others, but because of Googles market leading position these updates can be extremely significant to many online businesses.

Internet Marketers assign names to these updates much the same way the weather service names hurricanes. Last October it was Jagger, before that we had the infamous Florida Update in late 2003, and Austin in early 2004.

Each update is designed to improve search results by either doing a better job of identifying high-quality content on the Internet, or by doing a better job of suppressing low-quality content.

Over the last two or three weeks, many website owners have seen traffic to their sites from Google fluctuate quite a bit. This is normal for algorithm updates as the index is updated on one data center, a site will change positions. The fluctuations occur because the index in the new data center is not completely built, and therefore a site may be placed artificially high or low until all the data is brought into equilibrium.

A few days ago, Google completed a major overhaul of its algorithm this one dubbed BigDaddy and in the world of search engine updates its a category 5 hurricane; well, sort of.

You see, after all the turmoil of the past three weeks or so, most marketers are probably seeing their websites ranked more or less where they were about a month ago. This is unusual. Usually major algorithm changes result in significant changes in site rankings for virtually all sites on the Internet. Both the Florida and Jagger updates changed the landscape of Googles Search Engine Results Pages (SERPs) dramatically.

So, Whats the Big Deal About BigDaddy?

At first glance, the BigDaddy update seems to be much ado about nothing. However, there are some welcome changes that have been included in this update that should make Google a much friendlier place for those of us who build valuable content-rich websites.

* Increasing size and scope of the index One of the purposes of this latest update was to increase the size of the index itself. This will allow Google to dig deeper into your site and catalog even more of your content (HTML, JavaScripts, Flash, etc).
* URL Canonicalization Yes, its a scary word, but its actually quite simple. Essentially, canonicalization is determining which URL is the most appropriate for a given page. For example, the following URLs are all valid ways of reaching the homepage of SomeWebsite.com:
By improving URL Canonicalization, Google is attempting to make sure your site gets credit even though the URLs might be spelled differently on different websites.
* No More Page Hijacking Although not a common problem, there are unscrupulous jerks out there who will find a popular site and hijack its content by using 302 redirects. Google is attempting to eliminated the ability to do this effectively hopefully they are succeeding.
* New Spider You will also see a new Google spider called Mozilla Bot instead of the old familiar GoogleBot. If you are into looking at server logs, the new agent is Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Googlebot/2.1; +http://www.google.com/bot.html)
* Less Search Engine Spam continuing with the recent trends, Google seems hell-bent on eliminating the effectiveness of purchased keywords and link farms. If you are still employing these black-hat techniques, then you probably just found out about the BigDaddy update the hard way. If you didnt, then you will probably be hearing from BigDaddy soon.

BigDaddy Foretells More Changes To Come

In the immediate aftermath of a major update like BigDaddy, there are a number of things you can expect to happen.

The first is that your websites PageRank (PR) will probably change over the next few weeks. If youve been doing the things that Google likes, then you will likely see your PR improve, if you are engaged in unscrupulous (by Googles standards) activities, then you can expect your PR to go down. To see a list of what Google likes visit http://www.google.com/webmasters/.
In addition, some of your sites older content will be re-crawled and older, unlinked content will probably be removed from the index.
Over the next few months, there will also likely be a series of smaller updates that will take advantage of the new infrastructure provided by the BigDaddy update. Flash-heavy sites that were held artificially low may move up in the rankings while sites that rely heavily on reciprocal linking will likely go down.

BigDaddy Not Such A Big Deal
In short, as long as you are not engaged in Black-hat Birmingham SEO, BigDaddy itself is probably no cause for alarm. If your site has recently bounced around in Googles results, then you will notice that things have probably returned to normal in the last week or so, and your rankings have probably improved a little bit.

Moving forward, in the next few weeks you can expect changes to your PageRank, and perhaps deeper crawls by Googles new spider, Mozilla Bot. In the next few months there will likely be a number of smaller updates, mostly pertaining to issues like Flash content and niche-specific algorithm changes.

As with all algorithm changes, there is no reason to panic just because “BigDaddy” blew through town. Like hurricanes in the real world, algo changes blow a lot of loose material around; but if your website’s foundation is sound, you will weather the storm and be ready for business once the storm has passed.

Why you need to have a text link strategy and how to get started

If you have been on the internet more than 10 seconds you know what a text link is — a word, or group of words which can be clicked to direct a web surfer to another page or site on the internet which will provide information related to that word or group of words.

Text links are the foundation of the internet. Without text links, there would be no internet. Without text links, there would be no internet users. Text links make the internet user friendly and allow surfers to easily move from one location to another to locate the information they choose.

In spite of the facts that this advertising tool is so familiar and simple, many internet marketers overlook it when devising an advertising and marketing plan. But this is a very big mistake because text linking is one of the least expensive and yet most powerful advertising options available.

Why You Need A Text Link Strategy For Your Web Site

Why is it important to have text links spread across a network of other web sites? I can answer that in one word — traffic.

Text links equal traffic. It really is that simple.

Text links work for you three ways:

~ Direct traffic when visitors click on the key words you have selected as your “anchor text”. This is very targeted, very profitable traffic too as each visitor deliberately clicks with the intention of learning more about whatever the key words are promoting.
~ Search engine traffic when their spiders encounter the text link and key words then visit your site. This can lead to more frequent visits by the search engines and factor into search placement.
~ Back links that affect both search engine ranking for your site but also search results

Text links can provide all those benefits — which can directly translate into income from your web site — and you can often buy text links for under $10 and the link will not only promote the specific site or page you choose but also connect it with the specific key words that will benefit you the most. Even better, when you buy a text link you are locking in your price so even if it delivers a ton of traffic — you don’t have to increase your ad budget.

How Can You Get Started With Text Links?

After you have developed your site and it is ready for visitors you should work up two versions of your text link. The first will be just a few words or a short phrase that includes the key words for your target site. The second will also include a longer description that may be a sentence or two. You should be able to find a selection of text links available for either choice.

When purchasing text links it is important to work with a known quantity and that usually is made easier if you work through a reputable text link broker.

Some points to consider when buying a text link:
~ Search engine rank (Google, Alexa, etc.) and age of site
~ Traffic
~ Content, design and usability of site
~ Placement of your link and number of links on the page/site

Many inexperienced text link buyers focus solely on Google PR but that little number doesn’t really tell an accurate tale about the traffic level on a site. While you shouldn’t ignore search engine rank information, I think it is more important to pay attention to the position of the link and the relevancy of the page or site content to yours. This will deliver better results in both the short and long term.

What Newbies Need To Know About Using Pay Per Click Ads To Generate Traffic

You can have the best looking web site in the world promoting a fantastic product, but if your potential customers don’t know about it, you won’t get any traffic or sales. This is the single biggest problem facing all internet marketers. This is especially so for newbies who frequently get discouraged and give up their attempts to make money online.

What Is Pay per Click

This is one of the more expensive methods of generating traffic, but provides an instant stream of visitors to your site. There are a number of companies offering pay per click advertising, such as Google, Yahoo and Overture, to name but a few. The most well known is the Google Adwords program, which I will use to illustrate the principles of pay per click.

You may have noticed the ads displayed on the right hand side of Google’s search page results. Each ad is associated with a keyword phrase (e.g ladies golf clubs) and is displayed next to the search results when someone searches for those keywords.

These ads are known as contextual ads because they are displayed on pages where the content is closely related to the keywords associated with the ad.

You will also come across these ads when you visit certain websites. The same principle applies and the theme / topic of the page matches the keywords associated with the ad. In this instance, the webmaster will receive a payment from Google for displaying their ads. This program is known as Adsense.

How Does Pay Per Click work

Place your ads with Google Adwords and pay for every click that takes a visitor to your site.
The price per click is determined by the popularity of the keyword and its position in the list. Prices generally vary between a few cents and $5 but can be very much more for some keywords.

There is no fixed price for a specific keyword or the position where it’s displayed on the page. The advertiser specifies the maximum amount they are prepared to pay and then Google uses this and other information from all the other advertisers to work out the position of each ad. Exactly how this is done is outside the scope of this article and many books have been written on the subject.

You can open a free Adwords account with Google Adwords. They have very good online help screens and examples to help you set up your campaigns.

If this method appeals to you, you can at a later stage spend a lot more time specializing in the numerous strategies that have been devised to make this technique successful. In common with all advertising, the secret is to continually test and improve on the performance of your ads. The bottom line is quite simply, if you make more profit than the cost of your ads, you are on a winner. If not, stop immediately and try something else!

A good idea is to get some help in the form of step by step instructions and coaching videos designed specifically for newbies.

If you are already running an Internet marketing campaign or are about to embark on an Internet marketing campaign, one concept you cannot afford to skimp on is search engine optimization (Bristol SEO). Bristol SEO is one of the most popular buzz words in Internet marketing but unfortunately most Internet marketers simply do not know enough about Bristol SEO to make this strategy work for them. Even those who are knowledgeable about Bristol SEO may have difficulty executing their Bristol SEO strategies to produce the desired affect.

Advertising is a very important part of running any type of business. You need to advertise to reach new customers and market your products or services. Whether you run your business online or not you probably already realize how important it is to advertise but if you are running your business online you should understand there is a great deal of free advertising available in the form of optimal search engine rankings.

Well known search engines such as Google rank websites according to complex algorithms which are designed to determine which websites are most relevant for particular search terms. Therefore taking the time and effort to optimize your website for relevant search terms may result in you being rewarded with high search engine rankings for these terms. This is important because most Internet users rely heavily on these rankings. It is not uncommon for Internet users to only review the first few results when they search for a particular term. This means if your website ranks high enough to appear on the first page of the search results you will likely enjoy increased website traffic. However, if your website doesnt make it to the first page or even the second page, it is unlikely you will receive a great deal of website traffic from visitors who use search engines.

Now that you understand why search engine rankings are so important you might wonder how to achieve these rankings. The easiest way to optimize your website is to hire a Bristol SEO specialist to do the work for you. The world of Bristol SEO is complex and continually evolving making it difficult for most business owners who do not specialize in Bristol SEO to keep up with the changes in the industry. Therefore, business owners who attempt to optimize their website by themselves may have difficulty keeping up with competitors who hire a Bristol SEO consultant to optimize their website.

The algorithms used by search engines can be rather complex and include a number of different factors. Some of the common factors in the equation include keyword density, META tags, titles, inbound links, website traffic and content.

Keyword density refers to the number of times a particular keyword is used in the content of your website. The theory behind this concept is that website which use a keyword often are likely extremely relevant to that keyword, however, overuse of that keyword may result in penalties to the website if the search engine deemed the keywords are not being used appropriately.

META tags are pieces of HTML code which some search engines use in evaluating the content of a website. Placing keywords in these tags can be beneficial in some search engines. However, care should be taken to avoid placing irrelevant keywords in these tags as this may result in your website being penalized.

Inbound links are also used by some search engines to rank websites. Inbound links refer to links on other websites which point to your website. In evaluating the worth of these inbound links, some search engines consider the rank of the website providing the link to your website. This means you should ensure the website providing inbound links to your website are high ranking websites to receive the most benefit from these links.

Finally, the content on your website can do a great deal to bolster your search engine rankings. Most Bristol SEO firms retain a staff of writers who are skilled at providing quality content which is also optimized for relevant keywords. If you hire a Bristol SEO firm who does not providing copywriting services you should invest in hiring a professional writer yourself. This will help to ensure the copy on your website is not only valuable to your visitors but also considered valuable to search engines.

Top 7 Ways to Make Sure Google Adwords is Making You Money

Most people dont realize that the more money you spend for Google Adwords traffic in comparison to the Google AdWords ads in the positions below and above your ad, the less amount of traffic that will come to you.

If youre looking at it by percentages, ask yourself: If your sales could go up 20%, would that be good if (all things being equal) your cost per click expense goes up by 30%? If this has in fact happened to you, congratulations! You have fallen into the Google Adwords CPC spiral. You have allowed the Google AdWords algorithms which determines the cost per click to add to the Google bottom line at your expense. If none of this makes sense, it should at least be clear that Google is making a fortune and they are only going to make more and more in the future.

This is the hardest thing for some Internet Marketers to understand. Google does not want a scenario where your sales drop 20 percent and the cost per click drops 20 percent as well, even though, if this happens to you, you will have effectively brought down your expenses and surprisingly, your profits will double or maybe even triple.

Never forget and always remember that you decide what you pay Google as well as the quality of traffic that comes from your Google AdWords campaign. Follow the following seven solid pieces of advice and watch what happens to your campaign.

1. Stay out of the top three positions where the lowest quality impulse clicks are most abundantly found

2. Get better traffic by improving your CTR by improving your ad.

3. Being in position 4-8 can be more lucrative by bringing in the more educated and serious buyers and keeping that cost per click down.

4. Dont be afraid of running the ad on the second page for higher qualified traffic. Remember, the game is to hit the perfect balance between price and position.

5. The higher the CTR you have, the more traffic youre getting and Google Adwords rewards you for a high CTR by giving you a better position

6. By continually challenging your own ads with simple split test methodology, you can improve the CTR over time. Let two ads run and keep slightly changing the one with a lower CTR in an attempt to beat the leader. This is not rocket science. This can also work with keeping two and trying to beat them with a third ad.

7. Scan your campaign and pull out the lowest converting keywords to improve your overall CTR. Dont throw them away, just separate them into their own Google Adwords Ad Groups.

Keep the following line in your head till it makes sense without thinking about it…

SALES CAN GO DOWN and still profits can climb higher!

5 tips to boost your Manchester PPC results on Google

As costs of Manchester PPC campaigns are increasing, internet marketers are more than even under the pressure to deliver positive results. The performance of Manchester PPC campaigns is dependent on following factors:

- The impression rate
- Your ad position
- Click thru rate (CTR)
- Conversion rate

Finding the right balance between impression rate, ad position and clicks is the starting point to successful Manchester PPC advertising. Before exploring tips to help your campaign perform better, let’s quickly sum-up the concept how Google displays your ads in its sponsored results:

* Daily budget controls frequency of your ad display

The frequency is expressed by number of impressions. If your daily budget is not high enough, your ad may not show all the time (meaning you don’t have enough impressions per day).

* Ad position depends on the Rank Number

The higher the rank number, the higher is your ad’s position on the page. The rank number is calculated based on the following formula:

Rank Number = CPC (Cost Per click) x CTR (click through rate) x (Ad quality)

Now we’re ready to explore what practices are more likely to help us improve Manchester PPC campaigns performance:

1/ Improve Ad Delivery

If your ad does not show up every time when searches are performed under your keyword, it may be a sign that your daily budget is not high enough. As you now know, how frequent of your ad display is controled by the daily budget. If you would like your ad to be shown more frequently, please consider to increase your daily budget in order to receive a maximum exposure for your ad.

Normally, you have 50% margin for your daily budget. For example, if your desired daily budget is $10.00 per day, you can set your actual daily budget on Google to $15.00 per day, because your actual spending is based on your click thru rate, by setting the daily budget higher will allow your ad to get more exposure, but your actual spending may still be in your desired daily budget range.

However, be sure to monitor your daily advertising costs and if they are rising too high, decrease the budget on the safe level.

2/ Improve Ad Delivery per Keyword

Each campaign can have one or more adroups. An AdGroup is a group of keywords and ads that will display when those keywords are searched for on Google. You may have experienced a situation when only few keywords out of the whole AdGroup trigger your ad. The explanation lies again behind the daily budget that controls a number of impressions for your campaign. These impressions are distributed between individual AdGroups and further between individual keywords. So it may happen that some keywords in a particular Adgroup have more impressions than the others, meaning some keywords trigger your ad more frequently than others.

If you want to improve the ad delivery for your targeted keywords, you can consider splitting your keywords and creating a new campaign for keywords with low impressions. This should improve the frequency with which they will trigger your ad.

3/ Optimize your Adgroups

As mentioned above, each campaign has one or more adroups that all share campaign’s impressions. Often, the impressions are not divided evenly between adgroups. So it may happen that some adgroups have more impressions and show their ad(s) more frequently than others. It is a very similar scenario as with keywords we just described above.

To improve results of your low-performing adgroups, you can consider to create a new campaign for them in order to increase the frequency with witch they show your ad on Google.

4/ Analyse your Clicks

Make sure the clicks are made for specific, targeted keywords. If you’re getting lots of clicks on non-targeted keywords, consider reducing Max CPC and/or your ad position in order to improve your ROI. Similarly, you can raise bids for targeted keywords that are performing well.

5/ Optimize your Ads

Make sure you bid on targeted keywords, create compelling ads and link them to relevant content on your website. The keywords you chose will segment the market and target your desired audience. If you won’t chose wisely, you’ll finish targeting the wrong market and wasting your advertising budget. The ad you create needs to attract attention of your prospects. It needs to communicate your unique selling feature – in other words, what makes your product/service different from others and why a visitor should visit your website. Be specific about your offer and include call to action. Lastly, guide visitors to the content on your website where they can access more information about the offer advertised. The landing page should also clearly state what is the next natural step to make – buy your product, download the white paper, sign up for a free trial, etc.

Manchester PPC management requires lots of work and testing but if you stick to the basics you can make money instead of losing them. Remember, the only measure that matters on the Internet is the profit you make.

If you have a website of your own you should know that you dont get traffic by letting your website just sit where it is. You need to point visitors to your website somehow. There are a myriad of different methods internet marketers use to get people to come to a website. These include and are not limited to, paying to get an ad on another website, pay-per-click advertising, and advertising on an ezine, or an online newsletter with many subscribers. These are all very effective ways to get traffic to your site. The strategies you need to use to make these work well have been discussed over and over again. They are also very expensive in most cases. What I want to discuss is a free way to get tons of targeted traffic.

What I am referring to is search engine optimization (Leeds SEO). This is when you change some things about your site to get them as high as you can on a search engine. Have you ever used a search engine? Thats a foolish question because these are used by everyone. When you do use Google or yahoo to find information or products what do you click on? You probably click on the first one on the list. This is because most likely this is the best site of the certain keyword you are searching for. One way to get your site rated highly on a search engine page is to have a content rich site with your own high quality content.

If you search some key words and scroll down to some of the bottom sites on the page you can see when you click on some that there content is not really that good, but they are still ranked 9 or 10 out of thousands of websites for that topic. This is because some people take advantage of the search engine system. This is the system followed that chooses where you site will rank on a search engine. The goal of every search engine is to try and catalog every single site on the World Wide Web. Unfortunately this cant be done so they can only get some websites added to there “catalog”. They usually focus on the content rich sites.

There is a way to manipulate search engines to help raise your page rank. These methods are not easy to administer and they are amazingly time consuming. Some include changing the hltm or css coding of your website and your Meta tags. Search engines categorize your website in a key word. One way to help your page rank is by repeating a key word over and over again in a certain content page. If you overstuff a page with a certain word you will be penalized so I would advise against that. If youre not a coder or a professional page designer you will not be able to use the Meta tag changing. If you do know how to manipulate code then you probably already know about using the key word in them.

In internet marketing there is a way to automating everything. Of course someone had to come along and create software to automate search engine optimization. I use software for everything; its a way to be more efficient and free up your time for more important things, or other aspects of your website. If you automate search engine optimization then you can worry about your content, format, product quality, or many other aspects of internet marketing. Automation is a way to get your work done with less work. It can be looked as like a sort of an exchange. You trade the work you have to do for a small dollar price. Of course it also does the work better, in some cases, then you could. In these cases it actually creates income.

Leeds SEO is a way of getting free targeted traffic to your site. If you want your site ranked high ona search engine page, all you need is a website with a lot of good content to keep people coming back and haing each page packed with key words, but not too much. The recommended amount is 7% or 7 per100 words. This may seem like it is easy enough but it is actually hard to make a quality article with repeated words. To make it easy for yourself I recommend you invest in automation of the process. Leeds SEO can be done manually and is the best free choice for getting targeted traffic to your site.

Internet marketers facing higher advertising fees on search networks are becoming increasingly concerned about a form of online fraud that was thought to have been contained years ago.

The practice, known as “click fraud,” began in the early days of the Internet’s mainstream popularity with programs that automatically surfed Web sites to increase traffic figures. This led companies to develop policing technologies touted as antidotes to the problem. But some marketing executives estimate that up to 50 percent of fees in certain advertising categories continue to be based on non-existent consumers in today’s search industry. Sam Fritsberg of ArticleDash.com states that the fraud has reached proportions that would shatter Googles stock in half, overnight, were they more widely known.

“We continue to detect click fraud, especially with Google’s Adwords and Adsense programs, and the numbers grow each and every month.” says Sam. “I wouldn’t be suprised if many of the advertiser horror stories are in fact true and there are people who make thousands a week commiting pay per click fraud by clicking on the ads served on their own website for commission.” adds Sam Fritsburg.

In one recent example of the problem, law enforcement officials say a California man created a software program that he claimed could let spammers bilk Google out of millions of dollars in fraudulent clicks. Authorities said he was arrested while trying to blackmail Google for US$150,000 to hand over the program. He was indicted by a California jury in June.

Matt Parrella, chief of the San Jose branch of the US Attorney’s Office in Northern California, said that case was “not unique.” The problem “is certainly not shrinking, and we’re ready to prosecute people,” said Parrella, whose office handled the Google case.

Click fraud is perpetrated in both automated and human ways. The most common method is the use of online robots, or “bots,” programmed to click on advertisers’ links that are displayed on Web sites or listed in search queries. A growing alternative employs low-cost workers who are hired in China, India and other countries to click on text links and other ads. A third form of fraud takes place when employees of companies click on rivals’ ads to deplete their marketing budgets and skew search results. “Click fraud not only is used to attack competition, but as a rip off by publishers who click on their own ads, the ones being served up on their own websites, in an effort to steal advertising dollars by the click”, says Sam of ArticleDash.com. “Our solution to this model is to offer webmasters free organic search engine optimization, but in a way that helps the net rather than promoting the current fraud Google is making billions from.”

Although the extent of click fraud is impossible to measure with any certainty, its persistence has exposed a fundamental weakness in the promising business of Internet search marketing. Google is tight lipped and has declined to comment.

“It’s hard to tell how big the problem is, but people are looking at it closer and closer as the cost of search advertising goes up,” said John Squire, vice president of business development of Coremetrics, a Web analytics firm. “Click fraud is a fin sticking out of the water: You’re not sure if it’s a great white shark or a dolphin.” Maybe ArticleDash is on to something here. Maybe organic is the way to go afterall.

Unlike advertising in traditional media such as billboards and print publications, “cost per click” Internet ads displayed with specific keyword searches have been promoted as a definitive way for companies to gauge their exposure to potential customers. As a result, US sales from advertiser-paid search results are expected to grow 25 percent this year to $3.2 billion, up from $2.5 billion in 2003, according to research firm eMarketer. From 2002 to 2003, the market rose by 175 percent.

“As more advertisers have competed for desirable keywords in their industries, the cost for clicks has risen too.” Sam of ArticleDash.com continues, “On average, advertisers are paying 45 cents per click this year, according to financial analysts, up from 40 cents in 2003 and 30 cents in the second quarter of 2002. In certain sectors, such as travel, legal advice and gaming, the cost can reach several dollars per click.” The implications are indeed disturbing.

But marketing executives say click fraud is pervasive among affiliates of search leaders Google, Yahoo-owned Overture Services and FindWhat.com. In a typical affiliation, any Web publisher can become a partner of these large networks by displaying their paid links on a Web page or within its own search results and then share in the profits with every click. “A common practice is the use of proxies, where by tricking Google into thinking the click is originating from another computer, possibly in another country, and the click fraud artist… more webmasters than you think.. walks away with a handsome undeserved profit.” says Sam.

“There’s a fatal flaw in the cost-per-click model because a ton of marketing dollars can be depleted in a fraction of a second,” said Jessie Stricchiola, president of Alchemist Media, a search-engine marketing firm based in Los Angeles that specialises in fraud protection. “Technology is continuing to be developed that can exploit this pricing model at incredibly high volumes.”

Google’s Answer
Google declined an interview for this report, but the company said in a statement that it has been “the target of individuals and entities using some of the most advanced spam techniques for years. We have applied what we have learned with search to the click fraud problem and employ a dedicated team and proprietary technology to analyse clicks.” Many disagree, however, and claim that the pay per click indestry is doomed. Organic Optimization a la ArticleDash.com seems to be the next big thing, and at least this time the risk is limited and the free upside results seems unlimited.

Google Adsense Tips – What, How, Who, Why, When And Where!

The Amazing Google Adsense Program is today towering like a Colossus in the Internet. It has helped some smart Internet Marketers to make huge amounts of money, while at the same time it is interesting to note that many new Internet Marketers and Internet Home-Based Business Entrepreneurs are receiving their first pay check from Google Adsense rather than the main affiliate program.
Given below are the Tips, What, How, Who, Why, When and Where of Google Adsense in a nut shell.

Adsense Tip: What is is Google Adsense:

Google Adsense is a program designed by Google that can generate advertising revenue for your website. Relevant Text and Image ads. targeted to your website content are delivered by Google. Additionally if you place a Google Search Box in your website, relevant text ads. are displayed when a search request is made by a website visitor. Google will pay you for all valid clicks. made by your website visitors on the ads. or search results pages. Another new addition is the Google Adsense Referrals Feature , whereby you can generate additional income by displaying Googles Referral Buttons on your web pages.

Adsense Tip: How to get started with Google Adsense:

You have to apply to Google Adsense by completing an online application form at https://www.google.com/adsense. Once the application is approved, you will be able to participate. You then have to copy and paste a HTML code that is provided by Google Adsense into your web pages. The code creates relevant ads. to the content of the page. When a visitor clicks on it Google pays you.

Adsense Tip: Who can participate in Google Adsense:

Anyone who has a website can join the Adsense program but not adult and hate sites. You have to comply with Google’s program policies. It is Free to join. Google has a massive advertiser base and they have ads. on the ready for all categories of businesses. They also have ads. ready to match different types of content sites, from a pet store site to that of a highly sophisticated technological site.

Google Adsense can be used in many languages. It is also targeted geographically and hence Global business can take advantage of this and webmasters living in any part of the world can participate.

Adsense Tip: Why Participate in Google Adsense:

The obvious answer is to make money from home. It does not cost you anything if you have a website, so why miss the opportunity to make money from home. Google pays you monthly if your earnings reach $100.The Google Adsense checks are a blessing to a large number of newbies with low budgets eager to make money from home. Some webmasters feel that Adsense ads. can lead their visitors away from their site. This possibility is there but if you have a website with good content they will always come back.

Adsense Tip: When to Participate in Google Adsense:

The Adsense program is Web related and hence you must have a website to participate. Once your website is ready and the contents optimized, you can submit your application. The Adsense program is not restricted only to high page rank sites as some seem to think.

Google approves most of the sites but ensures that they are of acceptable standard. Normally they are approved within 2-3 days. Once approved you can immediately participate in the Adsense program by logging into your account.

Adsense Tip: Where to place Google Adsense ads. in your Website.

The Adsense ads. can be placed anywhere in your web pages, but there are specific areas in your web pages that are recommended by Google which have been found to generate more clicks.

According to Google and our own experience: Ads placed above the fold tend to perform better than those below the fold.

Ads placed near rich content and navigational aids usually do well because users are focused on those areas of a page.

Ads placed at the top of the page and at the left generally perform better than others.

Ads at the bottom of long articles and those that are integrated or merge with the content too perform very well.

Of course there are other strategies, such as creating high paying keyword content pages to suit individual sites and also generating more traffic to your site. These have to be implemented too, to ensure success.

The Google Adsense Program has come to stay. It is a great way to earn an additional income for most webmasters and a big income for some who have made the Adsense Program as the main source of income. Which ever way you look at it the Adsense Program is a happy hunting ground for all and these Tips can help you get started.

Keywords are an essential component of producing a web site. These are the words which the search engines use to help categorize and rank your pages. For instance, if your website is about ‘writing articles’ then your keywords could include ‘writing’, ‘articles’, ‘article writing’ and so on.

The advice from many web designers and search engine optimizers has been to find as many keywords as you can. They advise you to search for keywords using a variety of online tools and software programs which can identify leading keywords. At first sight this seems attractive, but it actually defies logic.

Let’s take a look at the aim of a search engine. Its job is to track down pages that meet the specific search term that a web surfer has typed in. The more closely the pages it serves up match the search term, the better it is for users. Search engines need to be as accurate as possible in delivering the right material to their users. Otherwise the web surfer goes elsewhere.

Now imagine you are a search engine algorithm the mathematical program which calculates the probability of any web page matching the search term typed in. If the page has hundreds, or thousands of keywords you’ll be a bit confused.

For instance, is this web page about ‘article writing’, or is it about ‘feature writing for journalists’. They are different things. You’ll end up knowing the page is relevant but not that relevant. So you rank it down the bottom.

But what if the page only has the keyword ‘article writing’ several times? You’re absolutely clear the page is about article writing and so you rank it highly. Admittedly, it’s not quite as simple as this. But this is the principle of search engine technology. It is trying to find the most relevant pages that match the search term.

What this means for Internet marketers is that you need separate pages for each keyword. Focus each page on each individual keyword. Use the keyword in headings, sub-headings, the page text, the page title tag and in the Meta tags.

Avoid having pages which contain several key-words as that simply confuses the search engines and lowers your rankings. So forget the advice to have hundreds or thousands of keywords. Go for single pages that match single keywords and you will find your page traffic increase.

This trick also works for Google Adwords. Each advert should apply to just a handful of keywords – you get much greater click through rates and therefore cheaper advertising when you only have a couple of keywords per advert. If you have hundreds of keywords you’ll find you’ll get greater results by having keyword specific ads, rather than one advert with hundreds of keywords. So go against the advice of filling your pages and adverts with keywords. Go specific.
